This close-up view looks deep into IC 1871, a region within the larger Soul Nebula. Dark dust clouds are outlined by bright ridges of glowing gas. This star-forming complex is about 6,500 light-years away in the Perseus spiral arm of the Milky Way, visible in the constellation Cassiopeia.
