COSMIC MESSAGE
Auroras usually occur high above the clouds, created by fast-moving particles from the Sun impacting Earth's magnetosphere. These charged particles spiral along the magnetic field to strike atoms and molecules in the upper atmosphere. An oxygen atom, for example, will glow green after such a collision.
