Ultraviolet Earth from an Observatory on the Moon
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
This historic image, taken from the Moon's surface by humanity's first lunar observatory, shows Earth glowing in ultraviolet light. While our atmosphere blocks most UV light, some makes it through to cause sunburn. The sunlit side of Earth reflects a lot of UV, but the night side also shows faint, interesting emissions.
