Sharpless 308: Star Bubble

COSMIC MESSAGE

Sharpless 2-308 is a huge cosmic bubble, blown by fast winds from a hot, massive star. It lies about 5,200 light-years away in the constellation Canis Major and spans 60 light-years in diameter. The massive Wolf-Rayet star that created the bubble is the bright one near its center. Wolf-Rayet stars are over 20 times the mass of the Sun.
