A Perseid Below

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Most people look up to see a meteor shower, but astronaut Ron Garan captured this Perseid meteor from the International Space Station looking down. Orbiting at 380 kilometers, he saw the meteor streak below. The glowing comet dust from Swift-Tuttle heated to incandescence as it traveled through the denser atmosphere at 60 kilometers per second.
