“NGC 6995: The Bat Nebula” is copyrighted by Howard Trottier. NASA has permission to show it and we don't, so it isn't on this card.
See it on NASA's siteThe Bat Nebula, NGC 6995, is part of the larger Veil Nebula, a remnant of a star that exploded thousands of years ago. This region in Cygnus spans about half a degree, or twelve light-years. The expanding cloud of gas and dust glows, showing the intricate structures left behind by the supernova.
