Venus in Ultraviolet from Akatsuki

NASA APOD · JAXA
COSMIC MESSAGE

Why is Venus so different from Earth? The robotic Akatsuki spacecraft, launched by Japan, entered orbit around Venus in 2015 to help answer this question. Also known as the Venus Climate Orbiter, Akatsuki's instruments investigated unknowns about Earth's sister planet. This image shows Venus in ultraviolet light, a spectrum beyond what human eyes can see.
