Five Bright Comets from SOHO
These panels from the SOHO spacecraft compare five bright comets. Each comet is identified by its tail streaming away from the Sun, which is blocked by the coronagraph's occulting disk. Arranged chronologically, these comets were memorable for earthbound skygazers. Comet McNaught, the brightest of the 21st century so far, is shown in the top left.
