Deimos Before Sunrise
Mars's smallest moon, Deimos, takes 30 hours and 18 minutes to orbit the Red Planet, slightly longer than a Martian day. This causes Deimos to drift westward across the Martian sky. The Perseverance rover captured this image of the bright, 15-kilometer-wide moon before sunrise on March 1, 2025, the 1,433rd sol of its mission.
