COSMIC MESSAGE
Sirius, the brightest star in our night sky, is twenty times brighter and twice as massive as our Sun. It is 8.7 light years away, residing in the constellation Canis Majoris, which is why it is called the Dog Star. In 1862, astronomers discovered Sirius is a binary system, with a companion star, Sirius B, that is ten thousand times dimmer.
