COSMIC MESSAGE
Betelgeuse, a red supergiant about 600 light-years distant in Orion, is shown in this Hubble Space Telescope image, the first direct picture of a star's surface other than the Sun. It reveals a bright, unexplained hotspot on its surface. Betelgeuse is cooler than the Sun, but it is more massive and over a thousand times larger, extending past Jupiter's orbit if placed at the center of our solar system.
