Lunar Prospects

NASA's Lunar Prospector spacecraft launched in January, exploring the Moon from 63 miles above its surface. Its instruments sense global properties while orbiting pole-to-pole. Science results include a precision gravity map, global elemental composition maps, and mini-magnetospheres near impact sites. The mission also found evidence pointing toward a small iron-rich lunar core.
