A Leonid Fireball From 1966

This bright fireball was a Leonid meteor, photographed during the 1966 meteor storm. The Earth swept through a dense cloud of debris from Comet Tempel-Tuttle that year. Observers at Table Mountain Observatory saw about 50 meteors per second, including 22 bright fireballs like this one.
