COSMIC MESSAGE
This X-ray image of the Moon was taken by the ROSAT observatory in 1990. The bright hemisphere shines in X-rays because it reflects X-rays from the Sun, just as it reflects visible light. The darker half of the Moon and the background sky also have an X-ray glow. This glow comes from diffuse X-ray background radiation in space.
