A Lunar Rille
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Moon's surface is marked by long, narrow depressions called rilles. Some, like Ariadaeus Rille, are remarkably straight, extending for hundreds of kilometers. Sinuous rilles, with their winding paths, are thought to be remnants of ancient lava flows. These features were first observed over 200 years ago.
