COSMIC MESSAGE

The Sombrero Galaxy, M104, gets its name from its distinctive shape. It features an unusually large central bulge of old stars and prominent, dark dust lanes in a disk we see nearly edge-on. The diffuse glow of the bulge contains many globular clusters, while the dust rings harbor younger, brighter stars.
