COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 1 and NGC 2 are the first two entries in John Louis Emil Dreyer's New General Catalog of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars. NGC 1 is a spiral galaxy, similar to our Milky Way, seen face-on. NGC 2 is another spiral galaxy, but it appears edge-on from Earth. Both galaxies are about 200 million light-years away in the constellation Pegasus.
