COSMIC MESSAGE

The Great Nebula in Orion, also known as M42, is an immense starbirth region about 1,500 light-years away. This deep image reveals faint wisps and sheets of glowing gas and dust. Hot young stars at the edge of a vast interstellar molecular cloud illuminate this famous nebula, visible to the unaided eye.
