NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Puppis A is an expanding supernova remnant, about 10 light-years in diameter, and one of the brightest sources in the X-ray sky. Light from the initial stellar explosion reached Earth a few thousand years ago. This Chandra Observatory X-ray image shows the shock wave from the explosion, which continues to expand into interstellar space. The remnant is about 7,000 light-years away.
