The full moon rises over Lick Observatory, east of San Jose, California. From this vantage point, the historic observatory, perched on Mount Hamilton's 4,200-foot summit, momentarily shares the warm color of filtered sunlight with the moon. This telescopic view captures the scene, with the moon reaching its full phase at 1637 UT.
