COSMIC MESSAGE
On December 31st, 2008, a young crescent Moon and brilliant Venus were visible in the west after sunset. This conjunction, captured from Mönichkirchen, Austria, was the last of Moon and bright planets that year. Skygazers also glimpsed Jupiter and Mercury lower on the western horizon, closer to the setting Sun.
