COSMIC MESSAGE
The Elephant's Trunk Nebula, over 20 light-years long, winds through the IC 1396 complex in the constellation Cepheus. This false-color composite image highlights the bright, swept-back ridges of gas and dust. It was recorded using narrow-band filters that capture light from hydrogen, sulfur, and oxygen atoms. The nebula is an emission nebula and young star cluster complex.
