Aurora Shimmer, Meteor Flash

NASA APOD · Bjørnar G. Hansen,
COSMIC MESSAGE

On December 13, the Northern Lights shimmered over Kvaløya, Norway, gently illuminating the winter coast. This 30-second exposure also caught a fireball meteor from the Geminid shower. The meteor streaked past stars in the Big Dipper, pointing back towards Gemini, where the shower originates. Both the aurora and the meteor are visible in this study of contrasts.
