The Stardust-NeXT spacecraft made an unprecedented second visit to Comet Tempel 1, allowing scientists to see how its nucleus changed over time. This was particularly interesting because the Deep Impact spacecraft had hit the comet with an impactor in 2005. This image shows the comet near Stardust-NeXT's closest approach.
