COSMIC MESSAGE

The Sun's chromosphere, seen in a specific red light emitted by hydrogen, can resemble a rose. This color-inverted image from 2014 shows active solar region 2177. The 'petals' are magnetically confined tubes of hot plasma called fibrils, some longer than Earth's diameter.
