Comet Meets Moon and Morning Star

NASA APOD · Greg Hogan
COSMIC MESSAGE

A crescent Moon and bright Venus met in the predawn sky on December 7, along with Comet Catalina. This composite image combines short and long exposures to capture all three celestial objects. Comet Catalina, fainter than the Moon and Venus, clearly shows two tails, one of dust and one of ionized gas.
