COSMIC MESSAGE

The Kepler space telescope has found over 1,700 exoplanet systems. This visualization, Kepler Orrery IV, shows the relative orbital motions of these planets. While the planets' sizes are not to scale, the orbits of our own solar system's planets are included for comparison. Kepler detects exoplanets by observing their transits, or passages, across the faces of their stars.
