The Elephant's Trunk Nebula, also known as vdB 142, winds through the star cluster complex IC 1396 in Cepheus. This cosmic trunk is over 20 light-years long. The image highlights bright, swept-back ridges of ionized hydrogen, sculpted by the winds of young stars.
