Two Comets and a Star Cluster

COSMIC MESSAGE
Two comets, C/2017 O1 ASAS-SN and C/2017 P1 Nishimura, happened to pass near the Pleiades star cluster in early October 2017. Comet ASAS-SN, on the left, shows a greenish glow from carbon gas in its coma. Nishimura, on the right, has a long tail of dust and gas. These comets are much closer to us than the Pleiades, which are hundreds of light-years away.
