X-Rays From Antennae Galaxies

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Two galaxies, NGC 4038 and NGC 4039, are colliding sixty million light-years away in Corvus. This Chandra Observatory X-ray image shows black holes and neutron stars as bright points. They are surrounded by bubbles of million-degree gas. The collision has drawn out long, tendril-like structures, giving them the popular name, the Antennae Galaxies.
