A Sky Filled with Leonids

NASA APOD · Chen Huang-Ming
COSMIC MESSAGE

On November 19, 2001, Chen Huang-Ming captured a sky filled with astronomical wonders from Ho-Huan Mountain in Taiwan. This half-hour fisheye exposure shows the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy sweeping diagonally across the image. Planets Jupiter and Saturn are visible, along with countless stars and nebulae. The most spectacular aspect, however, is the numerous Leonid meteors streaking across the sky during the shower's peak.
