SN 1006: Supernova Remnant in X-Rays

This huge puffball was once a star that exploded in 1006. Chinese astronomers recorded the event, which we now know was Supernova 1006. The resulting expanding gas from the supernova is still visible today and spans over 70 light-years. The Chandra Observatory captured this image of SN 1006 in X-ray light.
