COSMIC MESSAGE

The open star cluster M34, in the constellation Perseus, is about 1,800 light-years from us. All its stars formed at the same time, about 200 million years ago, from the same cloud of gas and dust. M34 spans about 15 light-years, and it will eventually disperse as it orbits through the plane of our galaxy.
