COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 4631, also known as the Whale Galaxy, is a large spiral galaxy seen edge-on, similar in size to our Milky Way. Located about 25 million light-years away in Canes Venatici, its distorted wedge shape gives it its popular name. This sharp image reveals its yellowish core, dark dust clouds, and bright star-forming regions.
